Step 1: Learn movement before you touch a watering can
Open the Controls page if you need a reference card. On keyboard and mouse, WASD pans the shop camera, middle mouse or the assigned key rotates the view (GFV in demo notes), and Z/X zoom in and out. Get comfortable finding thirsty plants from every angle before rush hour—customers notice wilted leaves even when your layout looks cute.

Step 2: Enter watering mode and read droplet icons
Press C to toggle watering mode (demo default). White droplet icons mean a plant needs water soon. A solid blue droplet means the pot is fully watered for now. The critical mistake beginners make is treating blue like a timer to beat—overwatering causes rot and wastes stock you could have sold.

The task list tracks gentle objectives: place your first display, water every pot, unlock a new species, customize your avatar, or hit a reputation threshold. Completing entries awards Plant Tokens—the currency you spend in the compendium on new plants, pots, and furniture.

Step 4: Spend tokens deliberately in the compendium
Early tokens feel abundant until furniture prices stack up. Browse the Plants hub before you commit: growth days, watering frequency, mature size, and pet-safe flags all appear in plant info panels. If you share a home with cats or dogs, filter mentally using the Pet-Safe Plants guide.
